TR3-05 Freestyle Reporting with Inline XBRL

Highly structured and fomulaic Financial Reports represented in XBRL, and "traditional" transformational or template-based XML rendering solutions go hand-in-hand. However, there is a particular reporting use-case, exemplified by part of the UK CT Return, for which this is arguably the wrong approach. This presentation will describe the challenges of dealing with "freestyle" reporting (enshrined in law!) in an environment where both human-consumable rendering and machine-consumable structured data are equally important, and show that Inline XBRL meets these challenges head-on and provides a solution that satisfies all the requirements.
