Walter Hamscher is a member of the XBRL International Board of Directors who has led and assisted with XBRL planning, design, execution and implementation in China, Japan, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, United Kingdom, and the United States. He has worked with stock exchanges, bank supervisors, central banks, company registrars, government agencies, multinational corporations and not-for-profit entities. Walter was responsible for quality control in the COREP (Common Reporting) taxonomies project of the Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS) and is the architect of its multidimensional structure. Walter is currently a taxonomy architect on the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) project to develop an XBRL taxonomy for US GAAP under subcontract to XBRL US, Inc. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
