Managing Director, KPMG Chicago
Michael Ohata is the Managing Director of the KPMG Chicago office in Advisory Services focusing on CFO Advisory, including Business Intelligence. He also serves as a leader for Extensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL).
Michael recently joined KPMG after nearly eleven years at Microsoft Corporation, where he worked the last three years in the Finance Corporate Controller division. There he led the XBRL initiative and also created and led a new product development.
While in the Office Division, he designed and led the development of the Office product for Sarbanes-Oxley. He led Microsoft’s Worldwide Services enterprise knowledge management system and program design and worldwide rollout. He has also led a joint technology development program with IT resulting in rollout of SharePoint as a shared service, which resulted in architectural guidance for client
